FINAL POST FOR BOOK THREE

 This will be the final post for Book Three in "Letters to my Grandchild".

Book One covered 2008 - 2015 your first 7 years, and Book Two ended in September 2018.

This book covers  3 years from October 2018 when you turned 10 years old to October 2021 when you became a teenager

One day, if you decide to write about your life as a story, these 'Letters' should provide you with a good historical resource for your early years.

You always liked to dance Em, even before you could walk - a testament to your bravery and tenacity.  You joined a dance class, learned tap, hip hop and other dance routines and spent hours dancing to the routines of YouTube and TikTok dancers like JoJo and others.

Keep dancing Em!

 Hello my darling! The months are flying by too quickly.  In a few weeks we'll be moving to our new cottage and you'll be flying to your new country! Mark had a farewell function with his team in La Lucia.   Apil/May has a full calendar of birthdays and anniversaries in our families.   29 April - Sharon's birthday and Greg and Sharon's wedding anniversary on 2 May.  (And on the same day Ruby got her Visa to go with you to America!)  15 May - Mark's birthday   26 May Gregs birthday  30 May Mark and Tammy's wedding anniversary.   On 10 June Jeff and Gail had a farewell party for you at Simbithi.   Only the ladies were allowed to say a few words this time. JUNE 2008 - getting ready

Dear Grandchild,   A baby is such a precious thing. We humans must have a protective, nurturing gene that switches on when we know that a new baby is going to come into our lives. We are wired in such a way that even the thought of a baby switches on an emotional response. I've never really thought about having grandchildren. There didn't seem to be any prospect of having a grandchild in the near future and I didn't even think I wanted one. But, now that we know that you are on the way, I find myself thinking of your arrival as a momentous event! A brand new, never seen before, absolutely unique human being is going to come into this world in a few months time - and it will carry the genes of two parents, two sets of grandparents, great-grandparents, etc etc....... Its awesome!! Scary!! Exciting!! For the first few months of a baby's life it is completely helpless, defenceless and dependent on others.   Hello my darling girl, I can’t believe that you have been in the US for a whole month already.   I still feel as though you have gone on an extended holiday and will be back soon!   On 1 st July you collected Ruby. Mark sent a message: "Very nice to have Rubes with us. We got back from fetching Ruby in LA at around 8.30pm and then missioned at Avis in San Diego until after 10.30pm (long story) so we only got to sleep after midnight. Still tired but going to have a more chilled day today. We have an apartment viewing at 1pm, we're doing grocery shopping and we're buying a crate for Ruby. Oh, and going to the bank to see if we can open bank accounts."
