Valentines Gifts

Hello Em,

Your Mom and Dad asked Gumpy and me to watch you while they went out on a Valentine's dinner.
When we arrived at your place you gave us a beautiful card which you had made yourself, as well as Lindt chocolate.  I love the card - a cut-out of your hands forming a heart-shape.

Well, well, well...... what did I tell you about not knowing what life has in store for you! You are moving to a new home in the Mt Edgecombe Golf Estate at the end of the month.  How wonderful for you and your parents!  It is a gorgeous place to stay, safe, secure, leafy roads to ride your bike on, a swimming pool, great restaurant and I'm sure you will make new friends there too! All the houses have green roofs and are painted white.   They don't have burglar guards, security gates or alarm systems.   We attended the 3rd grade parents and grandparents assembly this month. You had to go up for the trophy for taking the most newspapers to school.  You saved 5 trees!  Well done Emily! On the 16th Feb your class won another trophy! JUNE 4TH 2008 - Squashy!

Dear Grandchild, Your mother told me today that they don't like to call you 'it' so they call you Squashy!   Isn't it funny how we call our babies by different names - Junior, Squirt, Dude, Squashy - all because we don't yet know whether you are a girl or a boy. Perhaps they will be able to tell your gender when your Mom has her next ultrasound. You don't have to be concerned with that - an ultrasound examination shows a picture of the inside of the mother's womb - without the use of X-Rays - which could be harmful. It involves high frequency sound waves that are transmitted through the skin and reflected by the internal organs and structures. These "echoes " form a picture of you on a screen which can be examined for any abnormalities. Most pregnancies are now monitored by ultrasound examination to assess the age, health and position of the unborn baby. FIRST REAL SLEEP-OVER

Hello my darling Em, I loved having you sleep-over this weekend!  You slept over once or twice when you were a baby and slept in a camp cot but you haven't slept over for a long time.  Now that you are in your own bed, Mom and Dad allowed you to sleep over when they went to a wedding in the midlands.  We put a matress down in our room - between the chest of drawers and a chair and padded with pillows.  It made a lovely snug bed for you.  We played house, tea-party, drawing, cutting out and pasting, and even copied Mr Maker and made animal faces with floppy ears. You had your dinner with Gumpy - chicken and potato wedges - and after your bath we lay down on your bed and I read you a story.  Then we switched off the light and within 10 minutes you were fast asleep.
