You graduated from Oasis Pre Primary and the 10th December was your last day.

Here are some photos of your last year at Oasis Pre Primary.

In February Carling Darling died.  He was over 13 years old and at the end he was quite frail

You made us a heart from the cut-out of your hand prints for Valentine's Day

Dax and Josie came to live with Delano and Jacques in the flat.

In April you visited Jeff and Gail at the river - and you steered a boat for the first time.

In July we watched you swim in your annual Swimming Gala.

We took you and Mom to Tala Game Park in the holidays

You met Sharkie at rugby!

You and your Daddy on Father's day

In October you had a special 6th birthday party in Durban north at @Tap

Three days after your birthday, on 19th October, you lost your first baby tooth - you swallowed it!  But, the tooth fairy still left you a gift under your pillow.

On Halloween's Day you and your Mom and Dad spent the day at uShaka

Gumpie, Greg and Mark went to Ireland and England to watch rugby so you and Mom went to Johannesburg to spend a weekend with Gail.  You met Shumba, their new Labrador and helped Gail decorate her shop.

and you were at the airport to meet your Dad when they came back

You wrote a letter to Santa and met Santa and these lovely bears!

We had Christmas eve at Dennis and Rita's house and Christmas Day at our house.

Birthdays and Parties

Hello my darling Em,

It was Little John's birthday on the 6th October and you and Mom came with us to his birthday lunch at Circus Circus.  You made John two birthday cards - a big one and a smaller one.

And then it was your birthday party on Saturday 11th October.
You had a lovely part at a place called @tap in Durban North.

Your Mom made you a Rapunzel cake and all the children had Rapunzel plaits with flowers.

You and Do-do at the party

Your hair looked gorgeous in a double plait, sprayed purple.

Your Aunty Candice also had her face painted

BIKE RALLY TIME AGAIN

Hello my darling Em,

We went to your bike rally at school.  Gumpy did the boerewors rolls and Mark did the bacon and egg rolls.  There was face painting, all sorts of games where you could win lucky prizes as well as the main event - the rally.

You all had to do 25 laps around the course and you went on a push bike.  I must admit, my darling, that my heart was in my throat the whole time and every time you cam whizzing past me I just held my breath!

In the end, you won a beautiful gold medal and raised nearly R700 for your school!  Well done Em!

It was break-up day Friday and you were allowed to dress up, colour your hair and wear a fancy dress.  You decided to go with lipstick and blush and Mom sprayed purple and pink in your hair.  You looked like a real, grown-up lady!

September Post

Hello little Em,

Your great-grand-mother (granny Laura's mother) passed away last month.  She was 76 and suffered from diabetes.  While Tammy helped her mom with the funeral arrangements and clearing out the unit at the retirement village where she lived, Gumpy and I fetched you from school and brought you home with us.  It was great to spend more time with you.  One of the days we had a tea party for the musical dolls.

Mary is the oldest of the dolls, she sings 'Mary had a little Lamb':  Incy sings"Incy Wincy spider" - Twinkle, sings 'Twinkle, twinkle little star" and Roxy sings "I'm a Rock Star". Sometimes you let Barney sing with them too. He sings "I love you, you love me, we're a happy family.."

On Friday morning we went to the Grannies and Grandpas concert at your school.  I remember when you were in the baby group and now you are in Grade R in the 'big' children's group.  Your group recited a poem called 'Weird' that started with the words, "My granny joined a Jumba class, I thought she had arthritis!"  You were all dressed in 50's rock and roll clothes and you all did the twist!

The Grandparents had to do the twist too - here are Gavin, Gumpy and Laura trying not to twist!!

You and Courtney - your carer at school
 You and your teacher

When you come to our house you have a little ritual.
First you want to see Dax and Josie, Jacques and Delano's puppies

Then you want to give Cherub water - which often ends up with you in the pool!

Then we visit Carling and Jenna's grave site at the bottom of the garden.
You made up this little song for Jenna.

Then we go for a walk around the garden, and sometimes outside as well.
On Friday we walked 1km around the block and pretended that we were walking in Spain!

On Saturday you went to rugby with Mom and Dad.  Sharkie and you at rugby!!
