DECEMBER 2022

 Hello my darling girl ,

You worked so hard studying for your exams - with a bit of help from your Mom - that I decided to treat you and your Mom to a mother and daughter Spa voucher.

You used some of your share to have a layered hair cut, and it looks gorgeous!

On 3 December you had a sleep over at our place - the first one for a very long time!  I made your old favourite for dinner - a furit and cheese 'face on a plate' !  You loved these when you were little and it was one way of getting you to eat.

Gumpie and I were so sad to miss your final assembly and Prize Giving at Virginia Primary on the 8th.  Gumpie had chest pains the day before and when he saw a cardiologist, he had to be admitted to Westville Hospital overnight for X-rays, MRI scan and blood tests.

On the 10th December, after fetching Granny Laura, we came to your house so that Gumpie and Mark could watch rugby together and then we followed your Mom and Dad to the Danville Park Girls High where you were dancing in the "PASSPORT TO DANCE" show.

It was a lovely evening but we werent allowed to take photographs.

Your Mom was able to get one photograph from the school - just look how grown up you looked Em!

It was Alex's 2nd birthday on 14th December.  Greg and Sharon had an afternoon
party just for the Baby Sitters.  It was the first time he actually played with you
and loved jumping onto his inflatable boat!

They had also planned a second party on Saturday, 16 December, but you, then your Dad and then your Mom all got Covid so they cancelled it.  Your Dad was devastated because he has been so careful, still wearing his mask at work.  But, a couple of your friends also had it and it was bound to happen.

On the 15th December your folks treated you to your first set of proper nail tips -
a reward for all your hard work at school.

Luckily you were all over the Covid and were no longer contagious by Christmas .

You spent Christmas Eve at Simbithi with Jeff and Gail and their boys, as well as Jacqui and her her children.

Richare, Gunza, Brian - and you in the middle with Christina and Taylor

Two beautiful young ladies!

We all spent Christmas day at Greg and Sharon's.  It was a cold, wet, rainy day.

You had to be the Christmas Elf and hand out all the presents

I made you 9 Christmas baubles with photographs of you and your family from baby to teenager.  You'll be able to hang these on your tree in America next year so that we are all close to you on Christmas Day

These are photographs of your family on Christmas Day

Lauren, Gail, Tammy and Sharon

It was quite sad for us knowing that this would be our last Christmas with all the family in South Africa but it was really lovely to have everyone there this year.

So, what did we do on New Year's Eve?  The Sharks were playing at Kings Park so Finn and Greg, Mark, Tammy and you all went to a rugby match!  I went to be with Sharon and Alex and when you guys came after the game we had pizza for supper.  We all left around 8:30pm to go home and watch other countries on tv celebrating around the world!

I wonder what 2023 has in stall for all of us?  You will be emigrating, Alex will start baby school, we might be moving to Doone Village - so there are lot of exciting things happening.

Love you lots Em,

Granny-Syl
