JANUARY 2020 - Dear Emily

Spending time with your 2nd cousin Richard

A couple of Christmas photos

Our men - Gumpie, Mark and Greg, decided to go to the Game Reserve for a weekend. Sharon was working so you, Tammy and I decided to have a girl's weekend at Ashtonvale Guest Farm near Bulwer.

There is a small playground and you and I tried out the see-saw, swings and the jungle gym and visited the donkeys.

You and your Mom were in a two bedroom suite and I was in a room next door

Peppa the pig was lolling about all weekend
You played on the tractor - just like your Dad and Greg did when we took them to guest farms like the Oaks and Hebron Haven when they were boys.

My friend Hlengiwe joined us that evening and after breakfast on Saturday we went to
Reichenau Mission where Mdu gave us a tour and then we went to Underberg for lunch.

You with Hhlengiwe Kheswa and Mdu

There was a lovely playground at The Olde Duck and farm animals.  Just before we left a storm broke and sheets of rain and hail began to fall until the whole countryside looked as though it had been snowing!

The next morning after breakfast you milked a cow and went on a horse ride!

We then drove to Ixopo and to Mariathal Mission.  There was a service in the church and Hlengiwe was thrilled to find her older sister in the church.  We stayed near the back to listen to the women singing.  This church has stained glass windows in isiZulu - Faith, Love, Hope - in the little side chapel next to the front entrance.

We then drove on the old road to visit Kevelar Mission near Donnybrook.  There was a service in the church and it was packed with people.  We saw that our Abbot Pfanner Trappist Trail stone marker was attached to the wall.

Your Mom then dropped Hlengiwe and me off at Sandown before taking you home.

On 6th January you had a bone density scan and went for an ice-cream and lemon meringue afterward.

Both your Mom and Dad got terrible tummy flu so you came to us for a sleep over.  You are just like your Dad and like to have "Smiley Faces' dinner made of olives, cheese, apple, strawberries etc.

The next day we took you to lunch at Mugg and Bean in Westville before taking you home.

On 25 January you had your photograph taken with a few rugby
players at the Sharks family day.  (Just a few!)

Love you my angel child!

Hello my Emily Ann,

We spent a lovely day at Simbithi with Jeff, Gail and the boys on 2 January. They always go out of their way to have a delicious lunch with prawns and ribs and a variety of salads and desserts.
