OCTOBER 2020 - DEAR EMILY

Hello my Darling girl,

Even though we are on alert level 1, and family and friends are allowed to visit, we don't have many visitors, especially from those people who we know are not as careful as we are about where we go, who we spend outings with and who visits them.  Your Mom and Dad are very cautious and so are Gumpy and me so we visit each other more often

Luckily you have the pool at home and you can swim anytime you like.  You don't have to go to a common pool excepting for RuthMarie's where you go for swimming lessons.

You also don't have many friends visit your home and you don't go to their's.
Clayton and his sister came to visit and you are allowed to visit them

This is your birthday month!  You turned 12 on 16th October.
You are turning into a lovely young lady.

There is a tradition that on your actual birthday - you have dinner at our place for the 'oldies' - grannies, grandpas, uncles and aunts.  Because of lockdown, you and your parents came to our place for afternoon tea on Friday 16th.  You wanted cupcakes and scones so I made Disney cakes for you and your Mom brought your favourite donuts.

On Saturday after your birthday Granny Laura, Gavin, Gail and Brian had afternoon tea at your house.
The next day was VERY special!  You went to the airport to collect your beautiful puppy,
Ruby-Chewsday!  She is a gorgeous cross Labradoodle.
Gumpy, Greg and I visited you to see the lovely puppy.

Such a dear little thing, just 8 weeks old

On 24th October Sharon had a surprise baby shower at their house.  They came to us for lunch and when they got home they found their driveway crammed with cars and about 16 people waiting for them.  Gumpy and I didn't go, mainly because we didn't want to be with a group of people who we don't know, but we did visit them the next day and saw some of the lovely cake your Mom made and heard about the party.

Your costumes were all a little bit small so I ordered a bikini and costume
online which were delivered to your house.  They look really nice on you Em

This month was important for another reason - you wrote your exams.  Even though you had to learn at home you got excellent results and a lovely report from your school.  WELL DONE!

At the end of the month you were able to celebrate Halloween in your village,
even though it was on a smaller scale than usual.

We have been living with the Corona Virus for 7 months now.  All our lives have changed and it could be a year before there is a vaccine that everyone can have, and maybe another year before we can start living in a new normal way.  I am SO proud of your Mom and Dad and the way that have protected you and themselves.  It hasn't been easy and one day when you are older you might read this and really appreciate how much they have done.

I love you noo-noo pie. ♥♥♥
