MARCH 2021 - DEAR EMILY

Hello my sweet Em,

I bought a pram for Tammy to keep at your house for when she looks after Alex.
You put Lucy in it to test it and said that it would be perfect for the baby!

The weather was warm enough for me to have a swim
with you in your fabulous little pool.

Alex is smiling all the time now, especially at you!
I think he loves your new t-shirt that says "Alex's Cousin"

I also think he knows that you are a young person and not an old granny or grandpa like us, even though he has watched us trying to keep up with your dance  moves!

We were all very sad when Greg and Sharon's Labrador, Leo died this month.  We got him a memorial stone and placed it next Oscar's stone in the garden.  When the little 'Forget-me-not' plants grow bigger the stones will be surrounded by blue flowers.

Mark has always loved Labbie puppies (they really are cute!)

You were just a baby when Greg and Sharon got Leo and Oscar.
You were afraid of dogs until you got Muffy.

COVID UPDATE

When the Johnson & Johnson vaccines arrived in the country, health workers were the first group to be vaccinated.

At 10h50 on 17 March, Sharon became the first in the Nilsen Clan to have a Covid Vaccine!  As a health worker she was in the first phase of people to be vaccinated with the J&J vaccine at the St Augustine's hospital in Durban.  She had a bit of a headache for a couple of days but fortunately none of the symptoms that her fellow nurses had.

The next group will be the oldies (people over 60) and people with comorbidities like diabetes, heart problems etc.

Gumpie and I have registered and we hope to be vaccinated in May.  What that will mean is that although we can still get the virus, we won't become very ill and die from it.

We are hoping that once we have all been vaccinated we can have family get togethers again, with Sharon's family members, our family and Tammy's family.  Until then we are staying in our little family bubbles and not mixing with people outside of immediate family.

As of 31 March 2021  cumulative number of COVID-19 cases for South Africa was 1 548 157 with 52846 deaths from Covid.
